SCHOOL BOARD SUCCESSES

School Board

Successes

TRACY LOFFER

Over the last 8 years the Board has cultivated a school district that is a great place in which to learn and work.

We have:

  • Improved technology for teachers and students.

  • Cultivated an approachable, inclusive culture at the school board office and with the community.

  • Overhauled of district policies and procedures.

  • Improved openness and transparency through public Committee of the Whole Meetings where information is discussed with stakeholders and the public before proceeding to the Public Board meetings.

  • Improved Student Services. In 2019, a Ministry of Education Audit of Student Education Services, and the audit team described the process we have in Mission as "highly commendable" and "one of the best around."

  • Developed a Residential School Curriculum website GreatSpiritHand, which is garnering world-wide attention.

  • Implemented Joyful Literacy and Jump Math programs in our elementary schools.

  • Increased Professional Development for teachers and support staff.

  • One of my proudest accomplishments was being the catalyst to have our Superintendent visit our middle, high and alternate schools to get direct feedback from students in regards to budget.

  • In the first 4 years of my term, we built a foundation we were proud of, and looked forward to expanding on that work.  A large majority of  my second term focused on the Covid-19 pandemic, and our focus shifted to health and safety.  In this third term it is my hope that we can shift our focus back to educating our students and doing the best we can to help them succeed.

  • For more detailed information about the work of the Board of Education, please see my ANNUAL REPORTS page.

  •

I have lived in Mission for most of my life. I've been married to my husband since 1999  and have two children ages 16 and 20.  I love my dog and enjoy reading, hiking and stand-up-paddle-boarding.

RE-ELECT Tracy Loffler

I believe that ALL students and staff deserve to work and learn in safe, equitable and inclusive learning environments.

Key Issues

  • Improving student achievement. The primary role of a school trustee is to improve student achievement, by monitoring and evaluating the programs and services provided to students.   Our students are not performing as well as their provincial counterparts.  We will need to continue to put resources into classrooms that have a direct impact on student success.

  • Population growth and school capacity planning will continue to be an area of focus and advocacy.

  • I will continue to advocate for a replacement of MSS and Hatzic Elementary and other capital projects.

  • Co-creating a Strategic Plan with student and community involvement.

  • Continuing to increase student involvement in district planning and budgeting.

  • Maintaining healthy working relationships with all employee groups, especially as we move into collective bargaining.

  • Building on the successes of the past 8 years and continuing to move Mission Public Schools forward.
